NEWS FROM MISSISSIPPI JOHN HURT FOUNDATION >>
“We will gather in Avalon, MS, to celebrate the legacy of Mississippi John Hurt. This annual Homecoming Festival event is FREE and it’s one of the ways that the Mississippi John Hurt Foundation gives back to its friends and fans.
There will be a memorial service for the museum, concerts, a documentary film screening, a visit to John Hurt’s resting place in the historic St. James Cemetery, and a special opportunity to experience the interactive educational installation created in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University. Through our collaboration with the Mount Zion Memorial Fund, there will also be workshops, including a descendants roundtable. Interested? Complete details are at msjohnhurtfoundation.org.
