Carrollton’s “Backyard Summer Barbecue” Event FAQs:

Where does the event take place?  Carrollton’s Backyard Summer Barbecue will take place around the courthouse square in Carrollton, MS on Saturday, June 22nd beginning at 12 p.m.  We ask you to refrain from setting any tents or chairs up the night before.  All set up must take place on Saturday, June 22nd.

How much does the event cost?  This is a family event free to the public.  To enter the contest, a team must fill out the proper application and submit $25 per category entered.  Vendors also must fill out a vendor application and submit $30 per non-food vendor space and $50 per food vendor.  

Can my kids come? Absolutely. This is a family affair. There will be live entertainment, cornhole games, large Jenga games, classic cars and more.  Plenty of excitement for the entire family.  

Can I bring my cooler? Chair? We will have vendors selling water, lemonade, and Gatorade so we ask that you leave your cooler at home.  You are welcome to bring your tailgate chair and tent to sit and enjoy the festivities and live music on the courthouse lawn.  

Can youth participate in the competition? Yes, youth may participate but must be supervised by an adult. Youth are still responsible for submitting an application to the Town of Carrollton.  

What am I allowed to cook on? Teams may use any type of wood and/or charcoal grills. We are also allowing for any other backyard grill you may use at home consisting of pellet grills, “Blackstone” type griddles, and gas grills. You must provide your own electrical source such as generators.  

What categories are available? This year’s inaugural event will consist of Chicken, Ribs, and Burgers.  

Must I compete in all Categories? There will be awards given in each category. TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR GRAND OVERALL, YOU MUST COMPETE IN ALL 3 CATEGORIES.
