NEWS: Carrollton’s Inaugural “BACKYARD SUMMER BBQ” Family Fun
Carrollton’s inaugural Backyard Summer BBQ Event on Saturday, June 22, kicked off at noon, lasting until evening. The highlight of the day was the BBQ Competition with categories of chicken, ribs, and burgers. Seven cooking teams ranged from true backyard grillers to a few seasoned in competition cooking. Regardless of experience level, great grilling was abundant.
The more than two hundred attendees also came to enjoy live Carroll County music, including the Cobbins Brothers, Christina Alford, Ethan Bailey, and Barry “Pine” Blakely. Other features of this free family event included strolling by the classic cars on display, visiting the Merrill Museum, shopping local stores including Faithworks and The Smocked Kids. Vendors selling food and beverages included Chick-fil-A and Backwoods BBQ, as well as fair food booths. Other fun activities included corn hole and giant Jenga games, and a variety of arts and crafts.
Families and friends found shady spots under the shade of ancient oaks and magnolias in bloom for food, fellowship, and fun for all.
